A dad is often a baseball player's first catch partner.

On this Sunday, which is Father's Day, players around Major League Baseball can give their fathers some subtle shoutouts -- including with blue gear and bats.

It's not quite as ubiquitous a tradition as the pink on Mother's Day in MLB, but it's also growing to have these light blue touches throughout the league on Father's Day.

In a sport that plays pretty much every day, the subtle differences on a day like this one show how it matters to people.

Why are MLB players using blue bats on Father's Day?​

The blue bats are a part of the Father's Day plan around MLB.

They are part of MLB's plan on Sunday to "join the Prostate Cancer Foundation to dedicate Father's Day to the fight against prostate cancer nationwide."

The awareness ribbon color for prostate cancer is the light blue color that you'll see around baseball on Sunday.

"Major League players may continue to use blue, customized, cause-inspired equipment, such as bats provided by Marucci, Victus, or another approved bat supplier," MLB wrote in a release.

You may also spot special socks, wristbands and even catching gear in this light blue color.

It's certainly a special day. There will likely be lots of dads in ballparks with their kids, too. MLB players will be thinking about their own children, as well.

It should be a beautiful day for baseball for all the right reasons.
