Lando Norris had a highly frustrating Sunday in Montreal. His Canadian Grand Prix ended early due to a sudden gearbox failure, wrapping up a miserable weekend after McLaren’s controversial tire gamble. But instead of sulking over the zero-point finish, the British star packed his bags and immediately hopped on a plane.

Norris took a quick 800-mile flight straight to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He spent Monday hanging out with former teammate Daniel Ricciardo and IndyCar veteran Conor Daly to celebrate the 110th running of the Indy 500. After catching up with friends and congratulating the 2026 race winner, Felix Rosenqvist, Norris dropped a massive hint about his racing future.

Norris’s Ultimate Motorsport Goal

While touring the McLaren garage, Norris openly talked about the legendary Triple Crown of Motorsport. To pull off this historic feat, a driver must win the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Since Norris already conquered the streets of Monaco, he is officially one-third of the way there.

“I won Monaco, which is part one done,” Norris told reporters (via F1i). “Obviously got a championship now under my belt. There are two more to do”.

He admitted that watching Fernando Alonso try to conquer the Brickyard over the years made the idea highly appealing.

“I’ve never had a thought about trying to achieve the Triple Crown, but obviously I’ve ticked one of the boxes already,” he explained. “Now I’ve come here. It’s a warm-up for it all… Seeing Fernando attempt it and things like that always makes it more inviting”.

Never Say Never

Right now, Norris is completely focused on catching Kimi Antonelli in the 2026 F1 standings. But the McLaren driver made it very clear that his racing interests go far beyond just Formula 1.

“I certainly want to try things outside of Formula 1,” Norris stated. He noted that while he loves F1 the most, he is a massive fan of bikes, rally cars, and the entire IndyCar series.

When asked directly if the Indy 500 was officially on his future schedule, his answer kept the door wide open. “I never know. You never know. I don’t want to say no,” he teased.

Because McLaren already runs a massive, full-time IndyCar team, setting up a future ride for Norris would be incredibly easy. He might not be jumping into an oval race next year, but the Triple Crown seed has definitely been planted.
