When the Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) sought to replace Mike Piazza, Cervelli was the natural choice to lead a “growth process” aimed at long-term success.

One of Cervelli’s first and most impactful moves was recruiting his mentor, Jorge Posada, to join the staff. The two shared a deep bond as teammates with the New York Yankees from 2008 to 2011. Cervelli, who once served as Posada’s backup and apprentice, is now calling the shots, with the five-time champion supporting him as an assistant hitting coach. Also on the staff is Ron Wotus, who won three World Series with the San Francisco Giants.
