The rumors had been swirling for a while.
Now, they've come to fruition. The Kansas City Chiefs are trading Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons.
The ESPN report doesn't immediately name what the return is to the Chiefs.
Morris won a Super Bowl and started 16 games over a few seasons for Kansas City. Now, he's being sent out of town.

Why did the Chiefs trade Wanya Morris?
The Chiefs had enough offensive tackle depth to move on from Morris.
An earlier report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added that Morris "would like the chance to play more, and Kansas City has tackle depth."
Morris was originally a third-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma, previously having played college football at Tennessee, too.
Morris got a Super Bowl ring in his rookie season, a campaign in which he played in 14 games, including four starts. He also appeared in two postseason games that year.
In 2024, Morris played all 17 games and started 11 of them. He also caught a 1-yard pass for a touchdown.
In 2025, Morris lost his starting job. He played in 12 games, only one of them a start.
Morris had already been a trade candidate prior to the 2025 season, as it was clear the Chiefs might want to upgrade at the tackle spot.
Now with depth, Kansas City sought a future asset from a team that could use a player with starting experience at a tackle spot.

Why did the Falcons trade for Wanya Morris?
Unlike the Chiefs, the Falcons lacked tackle depth.
Morris fills a key need.
ESPN notes that the Falcons particularly want a strong right tackle, since both their competitors for the starting QB job are lefties, Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa.
Morris could be tasked with protecting their blindside.
