The Cincinnati Bengals won’t lack for options in free agency if Duke Tobin and the front office elect to spend big this offseason.

It’s not a secret what the Bengals might look to address, either. The Al Golden-coordinated defense was severely lacking along the front seven last season. Plus, pass-rushers Trey Hendrickson and Joseph Ossai are both slated to be free agents.

Hence, names like Khalil Mack popping up as a fit for the Bengals in free agency, courtesy of CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles.

In Cincinnati, the knee-jerk reaction is to say the Bengals wouldn’t consider a free agent over the age of 30 or older. But they’ve eased off that a little bit in recent years through extensions for B.J. Hill and signings like Dalton Risner.

Mack is certainly an interesting case. He considered retiring before returning in 2025 and put up 5.5 sacks over 12 games. That was on an $18 million contract, so his price for 2026 could be similar, if not even lower.

The Bengals probably wouldn’t go after Mack, but the need for edge rushing help is serious. Few would be a better mentor for Shemar Stewart and Myles Murphy than Mack, too.
