Why An NFL Analyst Thinks Patriots-A.J. Brown Trade Won't Be Simple To Complete originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
As June 1 approaches quickly, it might finally be time for the Patriots to welcome Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. However, NFL analyst and podcast host John Middlekauff believes that trading for Brown may not be a clear process for New England at the moment.
"Howie (Roseman) wants a first-round pick. The New England Patriots are not willing to offer a first-round pick," Middlekauff said Friday on "3 & OUT with John Middlekauff". "I do wonder if Howie is dead set on a one. What if the Patriots are like, 'yeah, we don't think he's quite worth that'? Are there other teams that would do that?"

All the speculation about the Patriots and Eagles potentially being far apart in trade discussions comes from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who said on Thursday that neither side is close to finalizing a deal.
“That means they’re not particularly close, and there’s a chance this could drag on for the foreseeable future," Rapoport said.
If the Patriots don't trade for Brown, Middlekauff mentioned a few teams that could enter the market for him.
"Would Kansas City seriously consider trading a one for him? Would Buffalo be interested? Because if you told Buffalo that they will be in the AFC Championship next year, they wouldn't hesitate to do that," Middlekauff added. "Would the 49ers be interested? We know the Rams were already interested."
It will be interesting to see what unfolds in the first week of June and whether the Patriots and Eagles remain far apart in trade discussions when the time comes.
