Austin Hill took advantage of a reckless move by Sammy Smith on the final corner to win the US Marine Corps 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

Hill was just about the only one that didn't stumble among the leaders as Smith, then-leader Taylor Gray and Justin Allgaier all made contact in separate maneuvers through turns 3 and 4.

Smith dove deep into the final turn to move Gray from the lead, and ruined both drivers' chances to win. Smith finished in 10th, while Gray finished in 29th.

Sheldon Creed finished second while many other cars crashed across the start-finish line.

Saturday's race won't be one to replay in the future, especially in the final stage after 10 caution flags in the final 100 laps not including the final sequence. The racing was not highly regarded by former and current Cup Series drivers on social media.

Absolute garbage

Some of these guys needed to have the experience of racing with Jack Ingram and Tommy Ellis

This racetrack is historic in the grand scheme of all things NASCAR and deserves better.
