Barcelona are set for some changes in their captains group after the departures of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ronald Araujo.
Ter Stegen has joined Ajax on loan for the 2026-27 season, while Araujo has also agreed a temporary move away from Barcelona and has signed for Liverpool.
The German stopper was Barca’s first captain last year, with Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha and Pedri also part of the group.
The departures mean there are now a couple of spots up for grabs for the coming campaign. With Frenkie de Jong out injured, Raphinha looks set to start the season with the armband.
There are also several candidates to join the group with Eric Garcia and Gavi seen as the leading contenders, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Hansi Flick has previously admitted that Eric could be a club captain one day, while Gavi’s passion and desire have already seen him wear the armband on several occasions.
