It’s been a busy year for boys athletes across Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties in 2025.

Here is a list of the top 23 boys athletes, in alphabetical order.

I’ll be focusing on the athletes top accomplishments, not necessarily every sport they competed in or accolade they received.

At the bottom of the list will be a poll to choose who you feel was the best of 2025.

The poll will be open one week until Dec. 31 at noon.


Vote for the Lakeshore Elite 2025 boys athlete of the year

Nash Banko, class of 2025, Oostburg​


Banko finished second at 175-pounds at the WIAA Division 3 state wrestling tournament.

Max Breitenbach, class of 2025, Kohler​


Breitenbach was first team all-Division 4 by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association for the Kohler boys basketball team, averaging 17.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Diego Cardenas, jr., Kohler​


Cardenas was honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association after finishing second in the state with 102 points and his 40 goals were tied for fifth.

Aaron Cortez, sr., Sheboygan North​


Cortez was honorable mention all-state by the WSCA for the Golden Raiders boys soccer team.

Donovan Cowley, sr., Roncalli​


Cowley earned first team all-Division 4 honors by the WBCA, averaging 18.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 5.4 apg.

Sawyer Dailey, sr., Plymouth​


Dailey earned a bronze medal at 190 at the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling tournament.

Cade Dirkse, sr, Oostburg​


Dirkse, the 2025 Lakeshore Elite boys soccer player of the year, tied for 16th in the state in goals with 31. No goal was more important though than the state-championship winner in double overtime of the Division 4 state title game. He was also honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. In basketball in the winter, Dirkse was honorable mention all-state in Division 3 according to the WBCA. He averaged 22 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 6.5 assists per game.

Brody Feldmann, class of 2025, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah​


Feldmann won a trio of state title at the WIAA Division 3 state track and field championships for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah boys track and field team. The 2025 Lakeshore Elite boys track and field athlete of the year won gold in the 200-meter dash with a record time of 21.69 seconds. He also established new records in both the 110 hurdles (14.32) and 300 hurdles (37.83).

Trent Grunewald, class of 2025, Howards Grove​


Grunewald averaged 20.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg and 4.6 apg en route to being named first team all-Division 4 by the WBCA.

Ben Kienbaum, class of 2025, Kiel​


Kienbaum won the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling championship at 190, defeating Two Rivers’ Max Matthias 12-9 in sudden victory. He was the 2025 Lakeshore Elite boys wrestler of the year.

Decker Kleppin, jr., Random Lake​


Kleppin was honorable mention all-state as an infielder by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association.

Oliver Leibham, jr., Sheboygan Lutheran​


Leibham shot a 12-over, 156 at the WIAA Division 3 state tournament to finish tied for third overall and secure a bronze medal.

Max Matthias, sr., Two Rivers​


Matthias second at the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling tournament at 190, losing the championship match to Kienbaum.

Deven Miller, sr., Plymouth​


Miller, the 2025 Lakeshore Elite football player of the year, was honorable mention all-state among the large schools by the WFCA as a running back. He ran for over 1,600 yards with 27 touchdowns en route to being named the ECC Offensive Player of the Year. He also had 80 total tackles and 10 tackles for loss and was the ECC Linebacker of the Year as well.

Sawyer Moore, class of 2025, Kiel​


Moore placed third at the WIAA Division 2 swimming and diving championships in diving with a score of 341.70.

Elliott Onesti, jr., Roncalli​


Onesti placed 10th in the WIAA Division 3 state cross country meet with a time of 16 minutes and 43.9 seconds.

Christian Pyles, class of 2025, Two Rivers​


Pyles placed third to win the bronze medal in the shot put with a distance of 57-feet and 8.5 inches at the WIAA Division 2 state track and field meet.

Nolan Sand, class of 2025, Mishicot​


Sand was honorable mention all-state as a pitcher by the WBCA after having a 2.32 earned run average with 98 strikeouts to 21 walks in 60 1/3 innings pitched.

Logan Schad, jr., Kiel​


Schad took third at 120 to leave the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling tournament with a bronze medal.

Kayden Schultz, sr., Plymouth​


Schultz, the 2025 Lakeshore Elite boys basketball player of the year, became the all-time leading scorer in Plymouth history in 2025. He was first team all-Division 2 after averaging 28.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 4.3 apg.

Brayden Steinbecker, class of 2025, Manitowoc Lincoln​


The senior was first team all-state at pitcher by the WBCA after going 5-2 with a .714 ERA. He struck out 48 batters and walked just 10 in 43 1/3 innings pitched. In addition to the all-state honors, he was first team all-Northeast district by the WBCA, named the Fox River Classic Conference co-player of the year while making unanimous first team all-FRCC as a pitcher and first team as an infielder. As a hitter, he batted .328 with 17 runs scored and 10 RBIs in 74 plate appearances and 58 at bats.

Aadin Terrazas, jr., Sheboygan North​


Terrazas won a pair of medals at the WIAA Division 1 swimming and diving championships, taking silver in the 500 freestyle (4:37.98) and bronze in the 200 freestyle (1:38.77).

Jamison Velzke, class of 2025, Cedar Grove-Belgium​


Velzke won a pair of medals at the WIAA Division 3 state track and field meet, earning silver in the 1,600 (4:18.09) and bronze in the 800 (1:55.40).
