After two rounds at the 2026 U.S. Open, the drama is building, and the carnage along the cut line was impressive.
Several notable golfers won't be playing the weekend at Shinnecock Hills as the windy conditions and traditionally tough U.S. Open setup have affected some of the world's best and past major winners. LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm were the biggest names to struggle during the second round and miss the cut, which settled at +4 by the end of Friday's action.
DeChambeau won the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, while Rahm won the 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.
Two-time U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka, who the tournament the last time it was played at Shinnecock Hills in 2018, was also sent packing.
Meanwhile, 2023 U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, had no issues with the Southampton, New York course, shooting -7 to set a 36-hole record for best U.S. Open score at Shinnecock Hills. He heads into the Saturday's third round with a four-stroke lead.
