2026 major winners are among notable golfers to miss Open Championship cut

While Lucas Herbert and Sam Burns delivered record-breaking performances, and Bryson DeChambeau provided controversy during Round 2 of the 2026 Open Championship, others struggled just to make it to moving day at Royal Birkdale.

According to the Open cut rules, the top 70 golfers (with ties) on the leaderboard after the second round get the opportunity to play for the chance to hoist the Claret Jug. The cut line was established at 1-over par, allowing 79 golfers to get through to the weekend.
