Xander Schauffele began Saturday, March 14, in second place at The Players Championship following two rounds.

Schauffele shot a 10-under-par 134 through two rounds. He had a 69 in the first round and a 65 in the second.

He's played every year since 2018, except for 2020 when the tournament was canceled for the COVID-19 pandemic.

He made the cut in his first try in 2018, finishing tied for second place with Jimmy Walker and Charl Schwartzel at 14-under, four strokes behind champion Webb Simpson.

Schauffele did not make the cut in 2019, 2021 or 2022.

He's made the cut each year since.

In 2023, he finished tied for 19th at 6-under.

In 2024, he tied for second again with Brian Harman and Wyndham Clark at 19-under. Scottie Scheffler won the tournament at 20-under.

Schauffele has won 10 PGA Tour events. His first victory came at the 2017 Greenbriar Classic.

He went on to win the 2017 TOUR Championship for his second carer victory.

Perhaps his best year as a professional was 2024 when he won the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. He also was runner-up at the Players Championship that year.

His most recent win came in October 2025 at the Baycurrent Classic.

His best finish at The Masters was a tie for second in 2019.

Schauffele was the individual winner of the 2011 California State High School Championship (California Interscholastic Federation) playing for Scripps Ranch High School.

After graduating from high school, Schauffele played his freshman year in college at California State University Long Beach, where he was the 2012 Big West Conference Freshman of the Year as well as on the 2012 First Team All-Big West.

Prior to his sophomore year, Schauffele transferred to San Diego State University, where he played out the remainder of his college career and graduated in 2015.

At SDSU, he holds records for all-time lowest tournament score against par (−17) and all-time career scoring average (71.50).
