Another high school softball season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.
This spring, Taunton (24-1, 16-0 Hockomock League) led the way locally once again, capturing a sixth-straight MIAA Division 1 title in the highest-ever scoring state final against Hockomock rivals Attleboro. Dighton-Rehoboth (19-4, 12-1 South Coast Conference) once again were consistently one of the strongest teams in the state all season long, but were denied a chance at a third-straight D3 title by SCC rivals Apponequet in a close D3 Final Four contest. Bridgewater-Raynham (13-8, 3-1 Pioneer Athletic Conference) were also among the state's elite and once again reached the D1 Elite Eight only to be stopped by eventual finalists Attleboro.
Bristol Aggie (18-3, 10-0 Mayflower Athletic Conference) had its best season this decade, winning the MAC Small while bolstered by a strong core of senior leaders and freshman pitchers and reaching the D5 Round of 16, while Bristol-Plymouth (15-7, 5-3 MAC) captured the MVADA Large Vocational title against perennial powerhouse Greater New Bedford and reached the D2 Round of 32 before falling to Western Mass. powerhouse Westfield.
Now, with the season in the rearview, cast your vote for the 2026 Taunton Daily Gazette Fans' Choice Softball Player of the Year, with polls open through noon on Tuesday, July. 28. This poll also will play into deciding the 2026 Taunton Daily Gazette Softball Player of the Year, with the fan vote accounting for 25% of the Gazette's final vote. Voting can only be done through the poll below, and any votes submitted by email or other means will not be counted.
