'Horrendous feeling' | District 5 rules to forfeit Southern Fulton's season
Avery Horst, Greencastle-Antrim: Horst’s .407 average, nine doubles and 33 RBIs earned him first-team All-Mid Penn Colonial Division honors, his biggest contribution this season may have been his RBI single that started the Blue Devils’ three-run, seventh-inning rally that beat Pittston Area in the state quarterfinals.
Ryan Jenkins, Waynesboro: The Indians’ leading hitter was one of three players from the team picked first team All-Mid-Penn Colonial Division. He hit .476 (30-for-63) with four home runs, five doubles, 33 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
John Kahl, Waynesboro: Kahl had a dominant senior season on the mound for the Indians, going 9-1 with a 2.48 ERA. He struck out 68 batters in 62 innings and only walked 12.
Ryder Linn, Greencastle-Antrim: The Blue Devils couldn’t have made the 5A state championship game without Linn’s arm. The junior went 8-1 this season with a 1.74 ERA. He struck out 49 in 48 ⅓ innings.
Brady Maciejewski, Shippensburg: The senior was the bright spot for the Greyhounds this season, hitting .421 (24-for-57) with a home run, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
Kaden Marpoe, McConnellsburg: The junior led the Spartans to 14 wins with his .339 average (20-59). He homered twice, had eight doubles and drove in 17 runs. On the mound, he went 4-2 with a 2.12 ERA, striking out 48 in 49 innings.
Ryne Mills, Chambersburg: At the plate and on the mound, Mills was a key piece to the Trojans putting together their best season in years. He hit .277 (23-for-83) with two home runs, five doubles and 10 RBIs. Pitching, he was 10-0 with a 1.24 ERA, striking out 65 in 73 innings.
Rylan Nichols, Waynesboro: The junior was another big bat for the Indians a big part of their 17-win season. He hit.426 (29-for-68) five home runs, six doubles and 30 RBIs.
Cam Rakaczewski, Greencastle-Antrim: In his sophomore season, he hit .462 (36-for-78) with a home run, 11 doubles, two triples, 34 RBIs, 38 runs scored and 17 stolen bases. In the Blue Devils’ state semifinal win over West Chester Rustin, he went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, and was the winning pitcher, throwing 4 ⅔ shutout innings of relief with seven strikeouts.
Keaton Shands, Shalom Christian: The senior was an offensive leader for the Flames hitting .396 (19-for-48). He showed some pop in his bat, hitting three home runs and a pair of doubles, driving in 11 runs.
Brady Truett, Chambersburg: The junior was the leading hitter for an 18-win Trojans team that came within an eyelash of making the 6A state semifinals. He hit .379 (25-for-66) with a pair of home runs, four doubles and 16 RBIs. On the mound he was 4-2 with a 1.19 ERA.
Drake Wenger, Shalom Christian: Wenger mixed power and speed to become a dynamic offensive weapon in his senior year. He hit .361 (22-for-61) with a pair of home runs, eight doubles and 10 RBIs. He also scored 19 runs and stole 14 bases.
