This would have been my assumption. Zay is the one if these things that’s not like the other. Really stands out as the wtf.
They do not account for scheme. Reiman should be in the 1st stringers instead of Zay for this team with this scheme.

We actually do not talk enough about Reiman and his potential increased role in the passing game

I hope he can contribute more of that this year. Though I knew that was an area he needed to develop I was underwhelmed by his usage in the passing game last season.

Underwhelmed would be an understatement.

What we know is that he was raw coming out. He had the 2nd best RAS score ever for a TE - after Pitts. TE is the 2nd hardest position to adjust to from college to NFL. He was asked to focus on the most complex for TEs, which is the running game. He was used as the lead blocker or decoy for Kyler’s runs. He caught the few passes thrown his way.

I’m really looking forward to see him in his 2nd year. I think he’ll get more passes and yards than our 3rd WR

Yeah, if his role in this D is to be a great run stopper, he fills it. Not good in pass coverage or rushing the passer. Maybe he's just in on obvious run downs - having Browning to focus on getting to the QB should make for a decent rotation.
He has a career 88 passer rating allowed. Zaven is actually good at everything other than rushing the passer.

Maybe this would explain why we’re not going after a wr

I 100% forgot about Campbell. He’ll start ahead of Jones for sure.

Robinson and Nolen might start in passing down situations to begin the season.
I think you will see the similar body types rotate together in base.

Campebll / D Robinson

Jones / Nolen

I would also assume they would like to mix vet/young in one rotation. So, Nolen with Campbell and Robinson with Jones.

Can't wait for Robinsons reaction when he finds out he is stuck with Jones instead of campbell - I'd be pissed

Why? Chances are he can learn a ton from watching Campbell on the sidelines if they are slated for similar roles in the base front of the defense.

2 min and pass downs will have the goal of getting to combinations of Campbell, Stills, Robinson, and Nolen. Robinson may get some reps on the outside with Sweat, Browning and Burch as well. Who knows where Ojulari fits in but he will definitely be fighting for some type of role.

I am pretty excited to see what Rallis does with our front this season. A lot of different and interesting combinations and options.

Ourlads is a little more well-regarded:

I think this is very close.

To start the season I could see this as the Rotation. Obviously the 1st Line will get more snaps but the 2nd Line will see significant time as well to keep everyone fresh:

1st Line:
Baron Browning Edge
Calias Campbell DT
Dalvin Tomlinson NT
Darius Robinson DT
Josh Sweat Edge

2nd Line:
Zaven Collins Edge
Walter Nolen DT
Bilal Nicholas NT
Justin Jones/Dante Stills DT
BJ Ojulari/Jordan Burch Edge

Ideally by mid season Walter Nolen has shown enough to earn the starting job over Calais. But really I think there will be a ton of mix and matching on the DL.

My guess.

Bilal Nicholas NT
Calais Campbell/Dante Stills DT
BJ Ojulari/Jordan Burch Edge

EDIT: Zaven Collins is starting. I missed that he was slotted behind Browning in the first post.

I can’t believe we are 12 deep there now. It’s really an incredible switch from last year. If Bilal and Justin come back healthy and Drob, BJ and the draft picks play to their alleged potential this will easily be the deepest front we’ve ever had. Most talented? Tough to proclaim over wadsworth, swann, smith, and rice at this juncture. But in terms of depth I think it’s crazy.
