Kayla Reid Lochte is moving forward amid her ongoing divorce from Ryan Lochte.
The real estate agent filed for divorce in March 2025 after seven years of marriage, though proceedings remain stalled due to disputes over finances and other issues. Kayla told PEOPLE in February 2026 the former couple are "not in a good place" and "try to have minimal interaction."
“It could be a long road ahead still,” Kayla told PEOPLE in February 2026. “I would love to be divorced.”
Ryan, a 12-time Olympic medalist in swimming — second only to Michael Phelps — met Kayla in 2016 and proposed in October of that year. The couple welcomed son Caiden Zane in 2017, married in 2018 and later expanded their family with daughters Liv Rae and Georgia June, born in 2019 and 2023, respectively.
Ryan is currently in a relationship with Molly Gillihan, and they live together.

Kayla was born on July 5, 1991, in Fairfax, Va., though she later said she was raised primarily in nearby Arlington and moved around Virginia frequently during her childhood.
She later moved to Palm Springs, Calif., with her mom before college and also lived in nearby Cathedral City. She was interested in cheerleading as a child and kept up the activity until college. She attended Fullerton, a public community college in California, per her LinkedIn.

Ryanfirst hinted that he was dating Kayla when she visited him during the 2016 Olympics in Rio. However, after they’d both shared photos of each other on social media, Ryan denied that he was dating anybody in an interview with Today.
Before the 2016 Olympics, Ryan had said that he’d been looking for love on Tinder. However, he actually met Kayla through Instagram. He revealed to PEOPLE in 2018 that two years earlier he had slid into Kayla's DMs and arranged to meet her face-to-face in a Los Angeles club.
“We reached out and grabbed each other’s hands and were like ‘This is you! Finally.’ And we didn’t want to let go,” Ryan said of their first meeting. “Our friends were dragging us apart and that was the end of that night.”

Ryan and Kayla have three children together, all born in the month of June. They first welcomed their son Caiden in 2017, before having their daughter Liv in 2019. Kayla gave birth to their third child, daughter Georgia June, in 2023.
In January 2026, Ryan told PEOPLE that he has his kids "50% of the time.”
“Everything I’ve done over the last 10 months has been about my kids and becoming the best father I can be for them,” he added. “That meant doing the work — going to rehab, rededicating my life to Christ, going to therapy and making changes that put my children first.”

While she might be known for her work as a model, Kayla has worked as a realtor with Tioga Realty in Gainesville, Fla., since September 2021.
Per the Guide to Greater Gainesville, Kayla has had an interest in real estate ever since she grew up watching her father and grandfather build custom luxury houses. She said, “They instilled my love of homes and showed me the value of determination and a strong work ethic.”

Kayla filed for divorce from Ryan in March 2025, stating in court documents that she is the primary caregiver for the former couple's three children and is seeking sole responsibility and majority time-sharing with them, along with the use of their home in Gainesville, Fla. Kayla is also asking for attorneys fees, alimony and child support.
In his response, Ryan denied Kayla's claim that splitting time equally with him "would be detrimental" and pushed back on her requests for child support and alimony.
“He’s damaged so much of their marriage, and he’s broken her heart so many times that she doesn’t know if reconciliation is in their future,” a source close to the family told PEOPLE.
“Kayla and I both wish to keep this matter private for many reasons, most importantly, to protect our children,” Ryan said in a statement to PEOPLE in response to the source's comments. “For that reason, I also won’t be commenting on this matter, or replying to allegations made by third parties.”
