Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding is preparing for a new chapter in his career.
Golding was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach on Nov. 30, replacing Lane Kiffin. Golding coached the Rebels in the College Football Playoff for three games; this is his first offseason as a head coach.
Supporting the first-year coach in this new endeavor is his family. Golding's wife is Carolyn, and they have three children: Braxton, Bentley and Bailey. Golding's parents are Skip and Tena.
Here's more about Pete Golding's family.
Pete Golding's wife, Carolyn, graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in accounting in 2007 and a master of taxation degree in 2008. She graduated from law school in 2011.
She began teaching in 2015 at Southern Miss. She also taught at UTSA before becoming a faculty member at Ole Miss. In 2024, the Goldings donated $100,000 to the Patterson School Building Fund.
Carolyn is from Cleveland, Mississippi.
Golding's two sons are Braxton and Bentley; his daughter is Bailey.
Entering the postseason, Golding said his children made requests for new game-day traditions. Notably, middle child Bentley asked if he could hold a fire extinguisher on the sideline.
Golding's parents, who are now divorced, met at Delta State, where Golding played football.
His dad, Skip, coached football at Margaret Green Junior High School and East Side High School in Cleveland.
Skip has called into "The Paul Finebaum Show" on multiple occasions. In 2021, he called in saying it was hard to root for Alabama as a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. At the time, Golding worked on Alabama's staff. Skip also called into the show in 2022, appearing to threaten another caller who had criticized his son.
Golding's mom, Tena, retired in 2025 from her role as provost and vice president of academic affairs at Southeastern Louisiana University in Pete Golding's hometown of Hammond.
She worked at SELA for more than 40 years and received the university Lifetime Achievement Award.
Golding's brother, Josh, played football at Southeastern Louisiana. He graduated in 2003.
