As is their annual custom, the Milwaukee Brewers added a relief pitcher at the trade deadline, snagging left-hander JoJo Romero from the St. Louis Cardinals along with starter Dustin May in a trade for minor-leaguers Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale.

The California native played at the University of Nevada and Yavapai College in Arizona, and he was drafted in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016. In 2022, he was traded at the deadline to the Cardinals for infielder Edmundo Sosa, and he'd been with St. Louis since.
Romero has a 3.35 ERA in 43 innings a year after pitching to a 2.07 ERA in 2025. He has a 3.51 ERA overall in his career, which stretches across seven seasons.
