The Milwaukee Brewers acquired longtime Colorado Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela to bolster their bullpen Aug. 3, trading minor-leaguers Mark Manfredi and Juan Martinez.
Here's what to know about the right-hander:
He's 31 years old.
He stands 6-foot-1, 235 pounds.
The native of Venezuela has been with the Rockies organization since making his Major League debut in 2017, and he's been a starting pitcher for most of his career. He's made 145 career starts and appeared in 212 big-league games overall.
He has a 3.61 ERA this year, his first year working primarily out of the bullpen. That's a sharp decline from 6.57 in 2024 and 6.65 in 2025. In 2026, he has 46 strikeouts in 52⅓ innings with a 1.299 WHIP.
Working in Coors Field notoriously inflates pitching numbers, but Senzatela pitches better in his career at home (4.93 ERA) than on the road (5.27). He has a road ERA of 2.57 this season, though.
He's in the final year of a five-year contract, making $12 million this season before a club option for $14 million next year. The Brewers will owe roughly $3.5 million to Senzatela this season.
Senzatela signed a five-year, $50.5 million deal before the 2022 season.
Back in 2018, Senzatela started for the Rockies in Game 1 of the National League Division Series, his only career playoff appearance. Senzatela allowed two earned runs on three hits in five innings at Miller Park, but the Brewers won in 10 innings on a Mike Moustakas walk-off single, 3-2.
He throws his four-seam fastball 40% of the time, but if we know the Brewers, we can expect a greater emphasis on using his cutter and sinker. He also throws a curveball on occasion and even mixes in a changeup.
His mix has been much more evenly distributed out of the bullpen this year; he relied a ton on his four-seamer last year as a starter. As you might expect, his fastball velocity has ticked up as a reliever, averaging 97 mph.
