The Atlanta Falcons made some progress last season but still missed the playoffs for the seventh year in a row. Now that they have their quarterback of the future in place and an offense loaded with weapons, the Falcons just need to find a few impact players on defense.
The 2025 NFL draft is basically the team's last shot to add talent before the season begins, and with just five total picks, Atlanta needs to make each one count. Since the 2025 NFL draft is just seven days away, it's only fitting that we take a look at Dane Brugler's new seven-round projection.
Green has been a popular projection for the Falcons due to the mix of value and need here at pick No. 15. Brugler doesn't love Green's size but loves the Marshall pass rusher's production and athleticism.
"The FBS leader in sacks last season, Green uses linear burst and athletic twitch to be a disruptive one-on-one pass rusher," wrote Brugler. "Despite average size measurements, he sets a violent edge in the run game and his motor pops on every tape (led all FBS defensive linemen in tackles in 2024)."
Brugler projects the Falcons to add some more front-seven help in Round 2 of his mock by taking Ohio State defensive lineman Tyleik Williams. At 6-foot-3, 325 pounds, the Buckeyes standout would give Atlanta a capable nose tackle and help make up for the loss of veteran Grady Jarrett. While he still has to develop as a pass rusher, Williams is a force against the run.
The Falcons don't have an immediate need at offensive tackle, but it'd be wise for the team to start preparing for the future. Kansas offensive lineman Logan Brown is a good developmental prospect that has the size and strength to eventually start at the NFL level. Atlanta doesn't have another pick until Round 7.
With the first of their two seventh-round picks, the Falcons were projected to take another Kansas standout in cornerback Cobee Bryant. The Jayhawks defender has been an interception machine throughout his collegiate career, racking up 11 total picks over the last three seasons.
Last up, Brugler has the Falcons selecting Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai with pick 242. While running back isn't a huge need, the team may have to replace Tyler Allgeier in the near future. Therefore, finding a competent backup for Bijan Robinson isn't a bad idea. Monangai has rushed for over 2.500 yards and 21 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
