After a trip to the Sweet 16, Kentucky basketball is reloading for next season and has already added four newcomers from the NCAA transfer portal.

The transfer portal is scheduled to close April 22.

Kerr Kriisa is the only UK player from the 2024-25 team to transfer out of the program. Six other players will not return because they have exhausted their eligibility.

The Wildcats reportedly have interest in at least two other players in the portal: Jamir Watkins and Treysen Eaglestaff.

According to The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, Kentucky is one of at least three schools still in the hunt for Watkins.

Watkins started his career at VCU, where he played three seasons. The 6-foot-7 wing spent the last two seasons with Florida State, averaging 17 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He shot 44% from the field. Watkins led the Seminoles in scoring during the 2024-25 season, scoring 18.4 points per game, and earned second-team All-ACC honors. Watkins entered his name in the NBA draft, but because of the COVID year and sustaining a torn ACL in his sophomore season, he has one more year of eligibility left if he decides to return to college.

Treysen Eaglestaff

Eaglestaff is another sharpshooter the Wildcats might pursue in the portal. The 6-6 guard from North Dakota averaged 18.9 points per game and shot 41.6% from the field. Eaglestaff made a career-high eight treys twice last season, once in a 51-point performance in a win over South Dakota State and again against Alabama, when he scored 40 points in a 97-90 loss. This is Eaglestaff's second time being available this offseason. He initially committed to South Carolina but decided to recommit and reenter his name in the portal.
