May 2—WHITEFISH — Logan Stewart and Bear Barker combined on a six-hitter, Tait Orme's RBI double sparked a four-run fourth inning and Whitefish downed Ronan 6-1 Thursday in a North A baseball game.
Stewart started and went four innings, allowing three hits, two walks and a run. He struck out seven. Barker allowed three hits in three innings, fanning four.
Luke Dalen's RBI single put Whitefish (10-3 overall, 8-2 in league) up 2-0 in the first inning, but the Bulldogs were looking for some cushion after Damien Hess hit a run-scoring single for Ronan (5-7-1, 4-6 in league) in the top of the fourth inning.
Orme's double scored Calvin Eisenbarth, who walked, and put the Bulldogs up 3-1; two walks and an error scored two more Whitefish runs, and a sixth — Finn Ryan — came on a double steal attempt. Ryan Conklin scored twice for the Bulldogs.
Columbia Falls 18, Browning 0
COLUMBIA FALLS — Jory Hill scored three runs, Treysen Murphy had two hits and the Wildcats needed just two and a half innings to down Browning in an error-filled contest.
Cooper Ross, Wyatt Dodson and Hill each threw an inning on the mound for the Wildcats (10-1 overall, 9-0 in the North A). Hill gave up the lone hit, a single to Jordan Walker. Ross and Dodson each struck out three; Hill fanned one.
No Wildcat had more than one hit or one RBI, but Columbia Falls took advantage of 12 errors by Browning (0-10, 0-10) along with three walks and two hit batsmen.
Bigfork 17, Plains-Hot Springs 1
PLAINS — Bigfork's Holland Jantzen threw five sharp innings, Hayden Mayer hit a pair of doubles and the Vikings put away Plains-Hot Springs with a nine-run sixth.
Ryeln Rodriguez had two singles, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Vikings (9-3 overall, 9-2 in the North A), who coupled 10 hits with nine walks issued by the Savage Horsemen (1-9 overall and in league).
Sam Plummer also drove in two runs; Cavin Wiest scored three times.
Mayer doubled, stole third and scored on a catcher's throwing error to put Bigfork up 7-1 in the fifth inning; Jantzen later walked and came in on Ryder Hamilton's triple for an 8-1 lead.
Mayer's RBI double started the big uprising in the sixth inning.
Jantzen allowed two hits and one unearned run, with no walks. He struck out six. Rodriguez threw the sixth, striking out all three batters he faced.
Wyatt Butcher singled in the lone Plains-Hot Springs run in the fourth inning.
