Every season, there is renewed hope for teams as they get a fresh start on the year and their history, essentially. Whether it be through coaching and front office changes, perhaps it's the NFL Draft, or free agency. Things are constantly changing in the NFL, especially who can shape a season.
That is why, when Fox Sports' Greg Auman made his list of players that could shape the upcoming season, we expected to see some Minnesota Vikings on the list. In fact, two of them made the cut.
Both wide receiver Justin Jefferson and quarterback Kyler Murray made the cut as players who could shape the Vikings' season. When it came to Jefferson, Auman writes, "Of all the incredible stats in the 2025 NFL season, few are more unbelievable than Jefferson playing an entire season and finishing with two touchdowns. Can he do for Kyler Murray what he did for Sam Darnold in 2024?... Jefferson is still only 27, but still seeking his first NFL playoff win."
In regard to Murray, it all centers around how his connection with Justin Jefferson will play out in the regular season.
"Can Murray take advantage of having Justin Jefferson in his arsenal and get Minnesota back to playoff contention? If he does, he'll still be only 29 and one of the best free-agent options for QB-needy teams not picking high enough to get the best of the 2027 draft class."
One way or another, the play of both men is going to shape the season for the Vikings, for better or worse. All signs point to a positive result, but in the NFL, everyone knows anything is possible.
