Wisconsin has risen in the college basketball polls ahead of the men’s NCAA Tournament.

The Badgers are now No. 20 in the USA TODAY coaches poll and No. 19 in the AP Poll following the Big Ten Tournament. They were previously No. 23 in both polls.

Wisconsin is ranked higher than it has been at any point in the 2025-26 season.

The rise follows Wisconsin’s Big Ten Tournament wins over Washington and then-No. 9 Illinois and its narrow loss to No. 3 Michigan in the semifinals. UW, with a 24-10 overall record, earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Big Ten teams ahead of the Badgers in the coaches poll include No. 3 Michigan, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 12 Illinois, No. 13 Purdue and No. 14 Nebraska. UW has won at least once against each of those teams except for Nebraska.

UW will face 12th-seeded High Point in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Fourth-seeded Arkansas, the likely second-round opponent, is No. 15 in the coaches poll after going 26-8 in the regular season.
