No. 15 Texas A&M (25–6, 7–5 SEC) hits the road for a rare midweek away game on Tuesday night, traveling to San Marcos for a matchup with Texas State (21–10, 8–4 SBC) at Bobcat Park.

The Aggies enter the week on the heels of a strong 3–1 stretch, run‑ruling Sam Houston before securing their second SEC series win by taking two of three from Vanderbilt. After a frustrating loss in Game 1, A&M responded with complete control the rest of the weekend, allowing just four runs while scoring 20 across the final two games.

Since the start of SEC play, the offense has carried the load while the pitching and defense continue to search for consistency. Injuries have forced head coach Michael Earley to reshuffle roles, including moving midweek starter Gavin Lyons into a weekend relief spot to stabilize the bullpen.

Even with the adjustments, the Aggies have shown steady offensive growth. They’re hitting .292 in conference play with 118 hits and 27 home runs, and their season average of 10 runs per game keeps them among the nation’s most explosive lineups. If the pitching staff can cut down on two‑strike home runs and free passes, this group has the potential to emerge as a dark‑horse regional host.

Texas State enters the matchup playing some of its best baseball of the season, winning nine of its last 12 games with the two of the losses coming to Texas and Texas A&M. The Bobcats may not be as talented as some of their recent squads, but they’re well‑coached, experienced, and rarely overwhelmed by the moment, traits that make them a dangerous midweek opponent.

Tuesday marks the 66th meeting between the programs, with Texas A&M holding a commanding 50–15 advantage. The Aggies have won eight of the last 10 matchups, including a 9–6 victory earlier this season. A&M has yet to drop a midweek game in 2026, but Texas State presents one of the toughest challenges on the schedule.
