Football is back in the Big Easy.
The New Orleans Saints host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 of the preseason on Aug. 15, in what represents the start of a season of high hopes for both teams. The Saints enter the year believing that a possible playoff spot could be theirs by the time January rolls around, courtesy of a youthful offense loaded with skill.
It's part of a quick turnaround led by second-year coach Kellen Moore, who oversaw Tyler Shough's development. The quarterback flashed after taking over as the starter, giving fans in New Orleans a chance to believe. Surrounded by talent like Chris Olave and a rookie receiver like Jordyn Tyson, fans envision an offense that could be fun to watch.
Unfortunately, Tyson won't be in this contest. The rookie is set to be sidelined with a hamstring injury and doesn't have a timetable to return.
As for the visitors, the Jaguars enjoyed a magical 2025 season that ended in a crushing wild-card loss. Now the team will try to get over the hump under a second-year coach of their own in Liam Coen.
A regular season matchup between these teams would be fascinating. However, in 2026, fans will have to settle for a preseason showdown. Here's what to know.
