NCAA hockey tournament selection format
The NCAA men's hockey tournament involves a 16-team field consisting of six conference champions and 10 at-large bids.
Regionals
The 16 teams are seeded and split amongst four regional sites: Albany, New Yor; Loveland, Colorado; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Worcester, Massachusetts.
Following a single-elimination format, one team will advance out of reach regional and into the Frozen Four.
Frozen Four
The tournament continues to play out in a single-elimination format, with two semifinal matchups and a championship game determining the 2026 tournament winner.
