Where is Saint Mary's located?

Saint Mary's College had only been to four NCAA men's basketball tournaments in its first 96 years as a program. In the last two decades, however, the Gaels have been there 11 times -- including in each of the last five brackets.

While that's only resulted in one run beyond the tournament's opening week -- 2010's Sweet 16 berth -- St. Mary's status as a mid-major powerhouse persists. That's led to back-to-back regular season West Coast Conference titles, even if rival Gonzaga shared the title in 2026 and took home the conference tournament championship in both years.

The Gaels have won their opening game three of the last four years. With a seven seed in 2026, they're projected to make it four of five. But where will they be traveling to Oklahoma City from?

Saint Mary's College is located in a town of about 17,000 people in the Bay Area. It's roughly 13 miles east of Oakland and 21 miles east of San Francisco.
