Ohio State has gotten hot at a crucial time.
After a Feb. 25 loss at Iowa, the Buckeyes closed the regular season by reeling off three straight Big Ten wins to take a 20-12 overall record into the postseason. Ohio State is 12-8 in league play, its best finish since the 2021-22 season, after a 91-78 win against Indiana on March 7 that doubled as senior day.
The three-game winning streak is Ohio State's longest since it opened the year 6-0, but just one of those wins was against a high-major foe.
The Buckeyes look to be solidly in the NCAA Tournament field, but first comes the Big Ten Tournament. Here's when they will get things started in Chicago.
The Buckeyes have locked up the No. 8 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. At 12-8 in the league, they finish one game ahead of Iowa and one game behind UCLA.
Had the Bruins lost at USC on March 7, Ohio State would have held the tiebreaker with UCLA by virtue of their head-to-head win Jan. 17 in Columbus. That would have given the Buckeyes the No. 7 seed in the league tournament.
Still, the No. 8 seed is Ohio State's highest since it earned a No. 5 seed in the 2022 tournament.
As a result, Ohio State will open the tournament with a March 12 game at noon Eastern against a to-be-determined opponent. The Buckeyes will get the winner of a March 11 game between No. 9 seed Iowa and the winner of a March 10 game between the No. 16 and 17 seeds.
The full bracket will be finalized March 8.
