As the season approaches, there will be a lot of preseason polls and rankings as experts try to predict who the best teams are going into 2026. On3 has published a new preseason SEC Power Ranking. Where do they put Texas?

They put Texas No. 1. On3 scribe Chris Low believes this is coach Steve Sarkisian's best roster yet, with playmakers all over the field.

"This could be Steve Sarkisian’s most talented team yet. He told On3 this spring that it was the first time he’s had top-level talent across the board, position by position, on both sides of the ball." - On3's Chris Low

Obviously, the late 2025 development and return of Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning is a key to any prediction for the season.

"Quarterback Arch Manning returns in his second season as the starter. He rebounded nicely after a rough start a year ago and could be the top pick in the 2027 NFL draft." - On3's Chris Low

Addressing with other offensive positions, including top portal signee Cam Coleman should also help Manning be the best version of himself in 2026.

On3 also likes the additions Texas made on defense. That includes getting new (former) defensive coordinator Will Muschamp on the staff.

"Texas’ most important offseason acquisition might have been veteran defensive coordinator Will Muschamp." - On3's Chris Low

On3 ranks Georgia second, Ole Miss third then the Sooners and Aggies. Check out the full list.
