The break between organized team activities and training camp is typically a period of inactivity around the NFL as this is an opportunity for front offices, coaching staffs and players to relax before their schedule ramps back up.
However, for the media, this is a perfect time to regroup and evaluate teams and players going into the upcoming season.
With that said, Pro Football Focus released their updated rankings for the 32 starting running backs around the league for 2026 on Wednesday. In that ranking, Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane came in at No. 5.
"Achane is one of the fastest players in the NFL, which makes him a threat to score whenever he touches the ball," they wrote. "His 24 carries that went for at least 15 yards led all backs in the league, and his 46.1% breakaway rate was the highest as well."
The four running backs ahead of Achane in this ranking were Christian McCaffrey (No. 4), Derrick Henry (No. 3), Jahmyr Gibbs (No. 2) and Bijan Robinson (No. 1). It's hard to argue that Achane deserves to be above those guys.
2026 will be a pivotal year for Achane, as he just received an extension and will likely be the focal point of the offense. Miami hopes he'll be the same player he was in 2025, when he made his first Pro Bowl, but it will be a challenge.
