Texas A&M baseball (25–6, 7–5 SEC) delivered another strong week despite a rough start to their weekend series, which was condensed into a Friday doubleheader due to weather. After cruising past Sam Houston in the midweek matchup, the Aggies took on a surging Vanderbilt squad in a must‑win SEC series and walked away with a statement series victory.
The midweek game unfolded exactly as expected, with A&M rolling to a 16–2 run‑rule win, its third straight run‑rule victory over the Bearkats and remaining undefeated in midweek contests this season.
The weekend brought a clash of two teams riding win streaks. Game 1 belonged entirely to Vanderbilt, as the Commodores capitalized on shaky Aggie pitching to take a 14–8 opener.
But the response was emphatic.
During Friday’s doubleheader, Texas A&M outscored Vanderbilt 20–4, highlighted by a dominant performance from sophomore right‑hander Aiden Sims, who struck out eight, allowed just three hits, and didn’t surrender a run in a complete‑game shutout.
A&M also benefited from another impactful weekend from its trio of true freshmen. Nico Partida, Boston Kellner, and Jorian Wilson combined for four hits, a home run, a double, a triple, and four walks across the doubleheader continuing their early‑season surge and giving the Aggies much‑needed depth.
They’ll need every bit of that production as they prepare for one of the toughest weeks of the season.
