It’s rankings season.
Training camp is approaching for the New England Patriots, and new and returning players for the franchise will get the chance to show their skills in simulated game action prior to the start of next season. A.J. Brown is the biggest fresh face in New England this summer, and he is expected to perform like an elite wide receiver in 2026. But does he outrank his peers at the position in the league?
Pro Football Focus ranked Brown No. 6 overall in their list of the top 32 wide receivers in the NFL ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
“It was a tumultuous final season for Brown with the Eagles, culminating in his trade to the Patriots in June,” PFF’s Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick wrote. “Even so, Brown posted his sixth 1,000-yard season in seven years. He has proven to be as sure-handed as any receiver in football, dropping just 2.9% of his catchable targets over the past two seasons. Brown will reunite with head coach Mike Vrabel in New England and give Drake Maye a legitimate No. 1 receiver for the first time in his career.”
Brown is anticipated to have an even better season in 2026 with the Patriots, given the new environment that he will be in. His ability to make plays after the catch, get down the field and impact wins makes him a high-caliber wide receiver heading into the upcoming season.
