One of the best players in college softball is on the move.

Former Florida State shortstop Isa Torres announced she was entering the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, June 8, nearly a month after the Seminoles were knocked out of the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament.

With Torres entering her final year of college eligibility, she is seeking a transfer, potentially closer to home, and with a chance to win a national championship.

The National Player of the Year by D1Softball.com this season attended Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Texas, which is approximately 30 minutes north of Austin.

Texas softball, of course, is fresh off repeating as national champions, and would welcome with open arms the local hometown hero.

Here's what you need to know about Torres' high school career:

Torres was a two-time all-state selection in Texas, along with being an All-Central Texas pick for three straight years during her prep career at Georgetown High School.

During her senior season, Torres racked up a .577 batting average and a .628 on-base percentage, with 79 hits, 68 runs scored and she struck out just twice in 156 plate appearances.

As a senior, Torres even volunteered to pitch when the team was down in the circle due to injuries.

Torres was also a two-time PGF All-American (2021-22), a 2021 PGF National Champion and a 2022 IDT National Champion. She was named the All-Central Texas Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

With her illustrious high school pedigree, Torres was ranked as the ninth overall recruit in the Extra Innings Softball 2023 class. She signed with Florida State, which was fresh off a runner-up finish in the Women's College World Series.

Torres initially committed to Texas A&M to join her elder sister, Mariana, but backed out when the older sister transferred to McNeese.
