The D1Softball National Player of the Year is considered the top prospect in the portal and has one season of eligibility remaining.

The full-circle aspect for the 5’6 middle infielder is about her background as a Georgetown product who grew up a Longhorns fan before signing with the Seminoles as the No. 9 prospect nationally in the 2023 recruiting class in the Extra Innings Softball rankings after a standout prep career.

The success carried over in Tallahassee as Torres became the starting shortstop for FSU as a freshman in 2024, batting 356 with nine home runs and 57 RBI. As a sophomore, Torres broke the school record by hitting.436 while recording the third-most hits in school history (95), scoring 70 runs and notching nine home runs and 45 RBI to earn first-team All-America recognition.

As impressive as Torres was for the Seminoles during her first two seasons, she was even better as a junior, earning ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors and acknowledgement as the best player in the entire country by smashing Florida State records for batting average (.530), runs scored (78), slugging percentage (.978) and on-base percentage (.591). Hitting .530 wasn’t just an incredible season for the Noles, it also ranked in the top 15 in school history. Torres also slugged a career-high 16 home runs with 56 RBI.

With Leighann Goode exhausting her eligibility as the starting second baseman for Texas, Torres will compete with Vivianna Martinez at shortstop while providing some protection for slugger Katie Stewart, who set the single-season school record with 31 home runs in 2026.
