The 2026 World Baseball Classic has experienced previously unseen heights for the international tournament, with TV viewership occasionally doubling that which the 2023 tournament drew. Certainly the star power on the rosters has helped, but the games themselves have been electrifying as well, and when paired with the sense of nationalism brought on by the Olympics, it's no wonder people are enjoying the WBC.
However, the tournament is nearly over. After tonight's semifinal between Italy and Venezuela, only the championship game will remain. While fans will certainly be interested to see if the United States can bring home their second-ever WBC title, they'll definitely want to see more.
Unfortunately, that won't be the case for a few years. Like the Olympics, the World Baseball Classic normally runs on a four-year cycle, but after COVID-19 threw the entire world out of whack, delaying the 2021 tournament to 2023, there were exceptions made.
That won't be the case next time around. Here's everything to know about when and where the next World Baseball Classic will happen.
The next World Baseball Classic is set for March 2030. The WBC is always held in March, coinciding with spring training when many of the best MLB players are preparing for the regular season. Some top players will forego spring training altogether for a chance to play for their country in the tournament.
The official locations for the next WBC has not yet been determined. That said, reports claim that Daikin Park in Houston is making a strong push to host the WBC championship game in 2030.
Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros, hosted Pool B play in this year's tournament, as well as two quarterfinals games. Miami's loanDepot Park got the opportunity to host both semifinal games and the championship in this year's tournament.
