AUBURN, AL — With one more win, Ole Miss baseball's run in the NCAA Tournament will move to Omaha, Nebraska, and the College World Series.
The Rebels (40-21) faces Auburn (42-21) on June 6 (4 p.m., ESPN) in Game 2 of the Auburn Super Regional. Ole Misswon 6-4 in Game 1 on June 5.
With a win, Ole Miss will win the super regional advance to the College World Series, where eight teams will play for a national title beginning June 12.
Ole Miss has played entirely road games in the NCAA Tournament. The Rebels started by outlasting Nebraska, Arizona State and South Dakota State in the Lincoln Regional.
The Rebels have made the College World Series six times (1956, 1964, 1969, 1972, 2014, 2022).
Two of those appearances have come since super regionals were introduced in 1999 after NCAA Tournament expansion.
The Rebels have won one baseball national championship.
That came in 2022, when the Rebels got the final at-large bid to make the NCAA Tournament field and went on a storied run.
Ole Miss won the Coral Gables Regional at Miami in 2022 before sweeping Southern Miss 2-0 in the Hattiesburg Super Regional. The Rebels went 6-1 in the 2022 College World Series, including a 2-0 sweep of Oklahoma in the Championship Series.
Pitcher Hunter Elliott is the lone player remaining from the 2022 national championship team.
Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco is in his 26th season leading the Rebels. He has been the coach since 2001, and was at the helm for the 2022 national championship.
Bianco is seeking his third trip to Omaha with the Rebels.
The Rebels went 2-2 in Bianco's other CWS appearance in 2014. Ole Miss lost 2-1 to Virginia in the opening game and followed with a 2-1 win over Texas Tech and a 6-4 win over TCU. Virginia eliminated Ole Miss with a 4-1 win.
