NBA free agency starts June 30 and the Memphis Grizzlies have an opportunity to energize the fan base by making significant moves to add more talent, especially after trading former face of the franchise, Ja Morant.

That trade clears the way for the Grizzlies to fully rebuild around a new core that includes Zach Edey, Cedric Coward and 2026 NBA Draft No. 3 overall pick Cam Boozer.

Memphis is well over the NBA roster limit of 15, and it has 18 standard-contract players on its roster (after the Morant trade and once the Isaiah Stewart trade from Detroit goes through). That number doesn't include second-round pick Richie Saunders. It all means that changes are guaranteed before the start of next season, and at least some of them are likely to come soon.

Free agency begins on June 30 at 5 p.m. CT, and any trades or deals can officially be consummated on July 6, when the league's moratorium ends.

The Ja Morant trade has stirred up social media

Morant is leaving Memphis after seven seasons.

It's generated a wide range of reactions online.

What to know about Kris Murray, Jerami Grant

In seven seasons, Morant was named a two-time All-Star, NBA Rookie of the Year and earned All-NBA second-team honors in the 2021-22 season.
