Wyndham Clark found some redemption at the U.S. Open this weekend.

Clark won the major tournament in 2023, but he went viral for the wrong reasons during the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont. After missing the cut on Friday, Clark destroyed two lockers in the locker room in what he called at the time a "moment of rage."

Photos of the damage later circulated on social media, drawing further attention to Clark's outburst. It was the second such incident for Clark in 2025, coming shortly after he damaged a T-Mobile sign at the PGA Championship when he threw his driver into it out of frustration.

Perhaps Clark recaptured some goodwill by winning his second career major on Sunday, holding on to a lead after setting the 36-hole record at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in the first two rounds.

What did Wyndham Clark say about the 2025 U.S. Open incident at Oakmont?

Clark addressed his actions from last year on Friday, calling it a "terrible incident" and reassuring fans that it does not reflect his character.

"I've gotten a lot of grief since last year, rightfully so," Clark said, per USA TODAY Sports. "The thing that's unfortunate is that's not who I am, what happened last year. I'm hoping I can win back the fans that I had or some new fans because it was a terrible incident.

"I really feel like I can show people that I'm fun and outgoing, I'm fierce, competitive, love the game, respect the game, and I just had a bad moment. Hopefully I can win those people back. I definitely feel like I'm in a better place. Hopefully a great weekend and great rest of the year, maybe I'll gain all those fans back."
