The New York Giants wrapped up their mandatory minicamp earlier this month, closing the book on a productive spring that offered the first clear look at the team under head coach John Harbaugh.

Across organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamps, players and coaches emphasized sharper focus, improved talent, and a more demanding practice structure compared to recent years.

A key theme emerging from the sessions was the increased intensity and duration of practices. Two of the mandatory minicamp sessions exceeded two hours and included expanded situational reps, a pattern consistent throughout the OTAs.

This shift reflects Harbaugh’s approach to building preparedness and attention to detail ahead of training camp, notes Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic.

Giants fans are so lucky that my beat partner Dan Duggan is one of the most thorough in the game. He keeps meticulously detailed practice reports, which comes in handy not only for the day-to-day but also when it comes to comparing and contrasting different styles between coaches. And one big observation under the John Harbaugh era already is the length and content of practices. Both mandatory minicamp practices went over two hours and featured plenty more situational reps. And that was a constant theme throughout OTAs and not just minicamp. We’ll see how that carries into camp and the team’s preparedness through the season.

The longer, more purposeful sessions align with expectations for how Harbaugh would reshape the program following his arrival. With training camp approaching, the Giants will look to translate these early impressions into on-field execution as they aim to build on the foundation laid this offseason.
