The Memphis Grizzlies will play in the NBA Summer League final against the Golden State Warriors on July 19 at 8 p.m. CT in Las Vegas.
It's the second time in the last three years the Grizzlies have reached the championship game after they lost to the Miami Heat in 2024.
The injection of change and talent in the 2026 offseason, highlighted by the third overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, Cam Boozer, has the potential to be remembered as the offseason that altered the franchise's trajectory for the better.
Here are three things to know ahead of the July 19 showdown between the Grizzlies and Warriors.
While Boozer has played in three summer league games in Las Vegas and has been impressive, the same can't be said about the 21st overall selection of the 2026 NBA Draft, Karim López.
López is still navigating his return from a hamstring injury and only played in one summer league game, when the Grizzlies pushed around the Atlanta Hawks, 96-64, on July 16. López played 11 minutes and had four rebounds in that game.
On July 14, the Grizzlies comfortably beat the Golden State Warriors 106-85.
In that game, Boozer scored 12 points, notched seven rebounds and three assists through 26 minutes. Javon Small played 27 minutes and led all scorers with 26 points.
Boozer often found himself guarding rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who has a history in Memphis. It's a matchup that could be intriguing for the title game.
The last time the Grizzlies won a summer league final was in 2019. Back then, the franchise was in a similar place, and the late Brandon Clarke won the MVP award.
The Grizzlies were only a couple of years away from returning to relevance in the 2021-2022 season when they finished second in the Western Conference standings and won a playoff series.
Summer league isn't usually an indicator of future success, but with the addition of Boozer and López and the changes the 2026 offseason has brought, winning a summer league title would seemingly be the perfect way to start a new era of Grizzlies basketball.
