Don't be fooled that by that Miami Heat hat, Nate Ament is headed to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 6-foot-9 Tennessee forward was selected at No. 13 in the NBA draft on June 23, and he will be sent to the Bucks as part of the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.
Here's what to know about Ament.
He is 19 years old, and will turn 20 on Dec. 10. He was one of the top recruits in the 2025 recruiting class.
He measured 6 feet, 9.5 inches at the NBA combine. He has an almost 7-foot wingspan.
Ament grew up in Virginia, playing at both Colgan High School and The Highland School. He was the 2024-25 Gatorade player of the year in the state. He chose to play for head coach Rick Barnes at Tennessee over Duke, Kentucky, Arkansas and Louisville.
Ament's father, Albert, is one of the best players in Wayne State history. His mother, Godelive, was born in Rwanda, but went to Italy to study nursing. That allowed Godelive to escape the genocide in Rwanda in the 1990s, but she lost many family members, including her mother. Godelive and Albert met while working in relief efforts for Rwanda.
It was an up-and-down season for Ament in his lone season with the Volunteers. At only 210 pounds, he struggled with physicality. He averaged 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a freshman. But NBA scouts are still impressed with Ament's fluid athleticism at his size with good shooting ability.
