The Milwaukee Bucks selected international big man Bogoljub Marković 47th in the 2025 NBA draft on June 26.
Here's some background info on Milwaukee’s newest addition.
Marković, who will turn 20 years old on July 12, is a 6-foot, 11-inch power forward who weighs 190 pounds and played last season for Mega Basket in Serbia.
Playing for Mega Basket, Marković averaged 14 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He shot 54% from the field, showcasing an ability to stretch the floor by shooting 38% from behind the 3-point line. He also attempted 4.2 free throws per game.
Mega Basket is the same team that once helped develop future three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.
ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony predicted that Marković would be stashed overseas until next season as he continues to develop.
RotoWire.com compared Marković’s skillset to a blend of players such as Franz Wagner (6-foot-10, 220 pounds), Lauri Markkanen (7 feet, 240 pounds), Chet Holmgren (7-foot-1, 207 pounds) and Santi Aldama (7 feet, 216 pounds).
However, the site pointed out that the Bucks rookie would likely need to fill out his frame before he can contribute in the NBA, noting that there wasn’t a single player in the NBA who stood at least 6-foot-8 and weighed less than 200 pounds during the 2024-25 season.
Despite predictions that he may not be ready for the league just yet, Marković sounded confident immediately after being chosen while doing a quick interview with ESPN.
Marković said that in his opinion, compared to his peers in attendance, when it came to being prepared for the NBA physically and mentally, he was "the most (prepared) out of anyone."
