Will Campbell might not be the only former LSU football product taken in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Tight end Mason Taylor is gaining steam, too.
Days ahead of the draft, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah is praising former LSU tight end Mason Taylor as one of the class' top prospects.
In a conference call previewing Thursday's draft, the veteran analyst said Taylor will be drafted "in the back half of [round] one; at worst, he goes early [round] 2."
"Mason Taylor, to me, he's an emerging player in that everybody is comfortable with him," Jeremiah said. "He's a safe player. He's rock solid. He has a nice week at the Senior Bowl."
Most scouts slot Taylor behind fellow tight ends Tyler Warren (Penn State) and Colston Loveland (Michigan), two first round certainties. Based on Taylor's Senior Bowl and pre-draft workouts, Jeremiah believes his receiving abilities put him on the same level as the pair.
In his third season at LSU, Taylor emerged as one of quarterback Garrett Nussmeier's favorite targets. He caught 55 passes for 546 yards and two touchdowns in 2024. Taylor is the most productive tight end in LSU history, holding the program's tight end records for receptions and yards.
