Alex Fitzpatrick fell just short of a remarkable maiden PGA Tour win as he finished fourth at the Truist Championship.
Fitzpatrick held a one-shot lead over Kristoffer Reitan heading into the final round of the tournament, with the latter going on to lift the trophy.
The Norwegian ended on 15-under to clinch his first PGA Tour win, finishing two shots ahead of Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Hojgaard.
Fitzpatrick finished one shot further back on 12-under, having only just secured his PGA Tour card at last month’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
He won the team tournament alongside his brother Matt Fitzpatrick, who has shared what he told Alex Fitzpatrick before the final round of the Truist Championship.
Matt Fitzpatrick told Alex Fitzpatrick the Truist Championship outcome wasn’t important
Alex Fitzpatrick praised Matt Fitzpatrick for helping him quickly become comfortable on the PGA Tour, which the latter has since responded to.
Speaking to Golf on CBS after his final round but before Alex’s final round, Matt said: “Yeah I think firstly it’s just a great experience for him.
“Obviously to be in those last couple of groups who were in Zurich, I guess kind of eased him into that scenario with me being there as well.
“Obviously this is a niche experience because he’s on his own now.
“For me I think it’s just about trying to enjoy it as much as he can.
“He’s in a great spot, he’s obviously been playing well.
“I said to him last night, ‘It doesn’t matter what happens, it’s going to be a great week regardless’.
“And if you can kind of stick to that and have the patience out there then you never know what happens.”
Alex ultimately fell short of success, but he can hold his head high after another fantastic performance on the PGA Tour.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Kristoffer Reitan earn big from $20million Truist Championship purse
Matt Fitzpatrick is clearly hugely proud of his brother for what he’s achieved in his brief PGA Tour career so far.
And it’s fair to say his performances have really surprised many, with the Englishman boasting one win and three top 10s from his three starts so far.
But also trending in the right direction lately has been Reitan, who incidentally finished in a tie for second alongside Kris Ventura at the Zurich Classic.
He has, however, now managed to get over the line for the very first time in his PGA Tour career, having improved upon his T14 finish at last week’s Cadillac Championship.
And his debut win has arrived at the perfect time, with the Norwegian earning $3.6million from the $20million purse for his 15-under 269.
Meanwhile Fitzpatrick has earned $960,000 from the Signature Event at Quail Hollow, with his older brother Matt receiving $45,187.50 for finishing T52.
