LSU baseball star junior outfielder Jake Brown was picked by the Seattle Mariners with the No. 59 overall selection in the second round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday, July 11.
Brown was the second current LSU player to be taken in this year's draft, following fellow outfielder Derek Curiel, who went in the first round.
Coming into the MLB Draft, Brown was rated as the 59th overall best prospect and his projected slot value at No. 59 was $1.38 million.

After a hot start to this junior campaign in 2025 when he led LSU in home runs with 16, Brown saw his draft stock greatly improve to up to a second- or third-round draft choice if he chose to come out of school this year.
The biggest question mark surrounding Brown is his current health. He missed the final 16 games of the 2026 season after suffering a fracture the hamate bone in his right hand. He had surgery shortly after the conclusion of the season.
Brown finished this past season batting .309 with 49 RBIs and 43 runs scored.
