With the college football season approaching, so is the release of EA Sports’ College Football 27 video game.
The game, which officially launches worldwide July 9 but can be accessed earlier through special editions, released its player overall ratings Friday, including those for North Carolina’s 2026-27 roster.
North Carolina has an overall team rating of 79, which isn’t surprising after the Tar Heels went 4-8 in a disappointing and frustrating first season under coach Bill Belichick.
What was surprising was that UNC received a higher offensive rating (80) than defensive rating (78).
The Tar Heels ranked near the bottom nationally in almost every major offensive category, averaging 288.8 yards per game last season, which was 129th in the FBS.
On defense, while there was some turnover, much of the unit’s experience returns, including star edge rusher Melkart Abou-Jaoude.
Below are 10 of UNC’s highest-rated players.
DE Melkart Abou-Jaoude: 89 overall, 20th highest-ranking in the ACC.
CB Kaleb Cost: 86 overall
RB Demon June: 84 overall
WR Jordan Shipp: 83 overall
K Aeron Burrell: 82 overall
RB Benjamin Hall: 81 overall
DT Isaiah Johnson: 81 overall
TE Jelani Thurman: 81 overall
RB Kaleb Jackson: 81 overall
CB Jaiden Patterson: 79 overall
