The dog days are upon us, as we are in a down stretch of football between the NFL Draft and training camps. This is the perfect time to work on fun projects and take a look forward to the upcoming season, playing what if. One of those what-ifs is: what if the Minnesota Vikings have a nightmare season in 2026? Thanks to Bleacher Report, we have an idea of what that might look like.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report released an article going over a nightmare scenario for every NFL team this upcoming season, and here is what he had to say for the Vikings:

"A new environment doesn't fix Kyler Murray, and J.J. McCarthy solidifies his bust status, but the defense is strong enough to prevent Minnesota from landing a franchise-altering first-round pick."

The biggest takeaway from this is the Kyler Murray piece. While fans are cautiously optimistic about Murray's arrival in Minnesota, questions remain about how quickly he can mesh into this offense. The part on J.J. McCarthy, we may not have a firm answer on that in 2026 if Murray starts all season. But if Murray struggles and the defense keeps things close all year, it could be an issue in finding a new quarterback. Fans should take solace in the fact that the 2027 NFL Draft is loaded at quarterback, should Minnesota go looking again.
