The on-field action has dwindled for the Wisconsin Badgers, as we now await Fall camp in the summer before the season starts. Of course, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t busy. Instead, the Badgers have had quite the month when it comes to high school recruiting, closing on their targets at an exceptional rate in June.

Now, they’ve got 22 commits in their 2027 class, which ranks as a top 20 group in the nation, and more could still come ahead of signing day in December.

On the basketball front, Wisconsin did get a commitment from four-star guard Jalen Brown earlier in the month before center Jack Thelen followed with a commitment of his own this past week. That brought the Badgers to two commits in the 2027 class, with targets like four-star forward Baboucarr Ann still on the board.

In the summertime, there just aren’t as many college sports being played nationally, with the lone marquee one being college baseball. Of course, the Badgers don’t have a baseball team, so that doesn’t apply to Madison, but in our national Reacts poll this week, we asked what sport fans followed the most during the summer.

Interestingly, but unsurprisingly, football was the top choice. That makes sense, given the amount of recruiting that goes on with official visits and the head start into future classes during the summer.

For the Badgers, they landed nine commitments in nine days, with defensive back Mykel Williams, wide receiver Jai Jones, wide receiver Steele Harris, defensive edge Darin Graham, cornerback Royalton Allen, safety James Roberson, offensive lineman Jack Tabbert, defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion, and linebacker Nathan Jones all committing to Wisconsin after visits.

The Badgers also hosted a slew of the top 2028 prospects this past weekend as a part of their annual Bucky’s BBQ, and the contact ban for recruiting underclassmen was lifted on Monday morning.

Basketball received only 11 percent of the vote. That also makes sense, although there are national high school AAU tournaments and circuits for much of the summer.

We’ve got some time before we see any on-field action, with Fall camp not slated to start until late July or early August. Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the Badgers are currently slightly favored to eclipse their win total of 6.5 games by FanDuel Sportsbook, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 season.

What’s been the most exciting moment of the summer so far for Wisconsin sports?
