The Seattle Seahawks have many reasons to be optimistic about the 2026 NFL season, but the way in which the franchise dealt with critical vacancies in their depth chart this offseason stands out among the rest.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Eva Geitheim, the work that the Seahawks did to address their needs at running back and cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft is a major reason for the team to be optimistic about next season.

”Even after winning the Super Bowl, the Seahawks are well-positioned to contend again,” Geitheim said. “They did a nice job replacing their biggest free agency losses in the draft—running back and corner—by selecting RB Jadarian Price and DBs Bud Clark and Julian Neal in the first three rounds.”

The Seahawks drafted Price after Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III departed for the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. Price has the talent to flirt with 1,000 yards rushing as a rookie, which will help Seattle fill the hole that Walker left in their offensive backfield.

Clark was a heralded safety in this year’s draft class and will play in the spot that Coby Bryant occupied in the Seahawks’ defense last season, while Neal impressed in 2025 at Arkansas with two interceptions and 10 passes defended on the year.

Seahawks stars Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are expected to lead a prolific offense for Seattle next season, while All-Pro stars Leonard Williams, Ernest Jones IV and Devon Witherspoon headline their star-studded defense.

However, outside of the confidence that is to be had in those proven champions, when looking at the roster, the rookies that Seattle drafted this year also give confidence that the shoes that need to be filled from departing players in free agency will be filled.
